The planets are aligning

There's something in the cosmos that's telling me this will be a good year.

You may have heard about it on the socials: A great planetary alignment that's coming sometime this month. Rumour has it that as many as six (six!!) planets will be in a line and visible in the night sky.

Have you seen the planets are in alignment? Well to be technical NASA prefers the term ‘planetary parade’.

Here to let the air out of the balloon is the Austin American-Statesman:

Despite what some reports suggest, the upcoming planetary alignment won't be all that special. The planets will appear to line up — but no more than usual.

The planets in our solar system orbit the sun in more or less the same flat plane as the Earth, according to EarthSky.org, called the ecliptic. The celestial bodies near us, the sun and the moon and the planets, all seem to arc across the sky every day and night from east to west on that same imaginary track.

But you know what? I’ve had a look and for the last few nights it really does appear to the naked eye that Jupiter, Mars, and sometimes Venus all look like they are in the same part of the clear dark sky.

But regardless of what it is or isn’t I’m already feeling like 2025 is a very different year to 2024 and that the planets are metaphorically at least - in alignment.

Here’s why.
