Thanks to the health care workers
A recent hospital visit has reminded me how much we rely on them.
Here’s my little sick chicken.
Em had a horse riding accident on the weekend. Fell off the horse but thankfully did so in a smart head-and-back-and-neck-protecting kind of way that she managed to land only her wrist.
Which broke.
We’re very grateful she’s okay, but even more grateful for the interaction we had with people we only know by their first names.
Emily, Elly, another Elly, Raj, Oli, Ash, Alan.
They were in and out of our lives in just under 4 hours but in that time I couldn’t help but think how lucky we are.
Lucky to have met them.
Lucky to have had those particular people on duty when we came in.
Lucky to have access to universal health care (often maligned overseas as ‘socialised medicine’… the reality of this is I pay 1% of my annual taxable income and receive unlimited access to hospital care for free... what’s not to like?)
Lucky to have Em only mildly injured and waiting to recover so she can get back on the horse, as it were.
Full gratitude post today.
If you have to encounter the health system soon, I hope you have such wonderful doctors and nurses like we did.
But let’s face it - they’re all bloody marvellous.
